Senior Base Foreman

With over 60 years of experience in the Alberta marketplace, Manpower specializes in matching great talent with great companies. In tandem with our client, a Company specializing in Road Building, Manpower is seeking a Senior Base Foreman, to fulfill a permanent contract in Edmonton, AB.

This role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced and driven Senior Base Foreman to work year round in a full-time capacity, in various locations throughout Edmonton. Some travel outside Edmonton may be required. In this role you will:
* Lead and supervise base crews
* Encourage safety culture and lead by example in practicing safe work environment and quality on site
* Complete concrete construction activities on company projects
* Provide effective leadership and training to the staff
* Ordering of equipment and materials
* Filling employee timesheets and other reports as required
* Hiring, disciplining, performance management and termination of employees
* Operating equipment and performing labour duties
* Other duties as required

To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Minimum 5 years of experience with road construction
* Minimum 3 years of experience in supervising crews
* MUST possess a valid class 5 driver's license or above with a clean drivers abstract
* Must have access to a reliable vehicle
* Thorough knowledge of road base construction for municipal and commercial sites including residential subdivision experience
* Ability to work continuously for prolonged periods of time under pressure
* Ability to construct roads & parking lots to acceptable engineering standards and ready for asphalt or concrete placement
* High attention to detail, strong communication skills and ability to follow directions
* Ability to work in varying weather conditions
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently with little supervision
* Willingness and ability to work extended hours and weekends
* Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
* Ability to proficiently operate a variety of heavy equipment
* Experience with finish operation of grader and sub-grade stabilizing
* Must have valid safety certifications
