Job Description

Buyer / Purchaser job opportunity with a well established and reputable food manufacturer - major supplier to big box food retailers Nationally.



POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for purchasing raw materials and supplies from an established set of

primary and secondary suppliers.



RESPONSIBILITIES AND WORK PERFORMED:

Place Orders

*Review stock level and production requirements daily

*Request raw materials from inventory at Citation warehouse as required

*Request frozen raw materials from external storage facility as required

*When stock levels indicate that replenishment is required, place orders with

approved suppliers

*When unexpected shortages occur, devise and communicate a solution to ensure

that there is minimum impact on production schedules

*Check receipts (provided by Receiver) against purchase orders to verify that

product ordered has been received. Sign off and provide receipts to Finance

department

Inventory Control

*Perform a physical inventory count of raw materials and compare to electronic

records. Frequency of physical inventory count is specific to each ingredient -

some ingredients are counted daily, others less frequently

o Where appropriate, initiate inventory adjustment to be completed by

accounting department



Maintain Stocking/ Usage Reports

*Ensure that information feeding stock buffer / usage calculations remains up to

date in MYSIS

o Update minimum order quantities

o Record any change in supplier

o If case size changes, adjust accordingly

Communication

*Point of contact for established / approved suppliers

*Point of contact for supervisors, responding to questions regarding delivery

schedules

*Liaison between Accounting department and supplier in situations where

shipments are delayed due to slow payment

Other Responsibilities

*Responsible for food safety and quality, and compliance with the SQF program

*Responsible for working safely, following safety policies and wearing required

PPE

*Responsible for working productively and efficiently and following established

GMPs and SOPs



Skills/Qualifications Requirements:

*2-3 years purchasing experience in the food manufacturing industry

*Related post secondary education

*Thorough knowledge of HACCP and SQF requirements

*Thorough knowledge of health and safety policies and procedures



Immediate opening - minimum 10 month contract with strong potential for permanent.
