Full Time Import/Export Customer Service Rep

What is the job?

* Respond to incoming communications from internal and external customers and where necessary resolve and escalate issues as needed.

* Communicate, and coordinate all customs clearance and transportation arrangements for commodity/customer moves including routing, delivery, booking, and other transportation logistics

* Respond to inquiries regarding status of shipments in transit; follow through on trace request as necessary; provide proof of delivery as requested.

* Prepare customs entries and follow-up with the clearance process on all entries prepared through partnership with internal and external partners.

* Scan, file, copy, and assemble documents including: bills of lading, dock receipts, licenses, and consulate

* Review and assess accuracy, verify country of origin/export, IOR, terms of sale and value to ensure that federal regulation requirements are achieved

* Prepare nightly recap of incoming shipments to JFK & 580 Operations and make daily I.S.C payments online for all incoming MAWB.

* Send payment receipt, MAWB, and Delivery order to dispatch / operations for pickups daily

* Process inbound/outbound shipments in the Free Trade Zone

* Research customer claims ensuring the highest level of customer service on every call and ensure that all service complaints are handled diplomatically, channeling pertinent information to customer service manager.

* Ensure all transportation arrangements are made with full consideration of security implications, according to the BGS Procedures and within the General security regulations (GSR).



What do you bring to the job?

* 3-5 years of experience in Customer Service in an Import or Freight Forwarding capacity

* Minimum of 3 years of experience using MS Office and Windows applications including a proficiency in Excel

* Experience in freight forwarding/transportation or related field.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills as well as working collaboratively with others.

* Working knowledge of Import/Customs logistics, armored transportation, other related industry.

* Professional, positive demeanor.
