Job Description

Junior Lab Technician



In tandem with our client, a leader in the petrochemical industry, we are is seeking Junior Lab Technician to fulfill a contract position.



Preference will be given to candidates residing in the Central Alberta area, as our client site is located 25kms east of Red Deer, Albert. Candidates must be able to work varying shifts, shifts will be 12 hours in length.



This role is a great opportunity for candidates looking to work with highly skilled and knowledgeable technicians in a results-orientated environment.



To be successful in this role, as a Junior Lab Technician, you will have:

* Basic analytical skills; this could be including but is not limited to the use of balances, plastic testing equipment and melting indexers

* Excellent oral and written communication skills

* Effective interpersonal skills to facilitate working in a multi-functional and multi-cultural environment

* Results oriented and ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently

* Ability to work in a safe and responsible manner

* Fantastic problem-solving, mechanical and computer skills

* Valid driver's license may involve driving on site in a company vehicle several times per day



Successful candidates require:

* Technical Diploma (chemical, chemical engineering and/or instrumentation)

* Degree (chemical) and/or 4th class Power Engineer

* Experience in reactor, pelletizer and finished product testing. (This involves the use of melt indexers, presses, balances, densimeters, and optical test equipment, etc.)

* Experience in plastic testing would be considered an asset

* Excellent communication skills and be comfortable asking questions to clarify

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

* Ability to learn quickly and function in a fast-paced, priortiy-driven environment
