Job Description

The sales representative will maintain an emphasis on acquiring and retaining broad based customer relationships with a focus on dealers/lumberyards in their designated area. We are looking for candidates for our outside/territory sales representative positions in South Central/Eastern MN and North/Central Iowa. We continue to grow and are looking for qualified individuals to join our team.

Meet or exceed gross profit goals as established by the company.
Manage time and travel to comply with corporate expense policies, procedures, and budgets (including Travel/Expense Reports).
Minimum of three (3) cold calls per month.
Reach sales goals as set by management.
Develop customer base necessary to meet all sales forecasts and budgets.
Maintain high level of product and vendor knowledge.
Keep the Sales Manager fully informed of all marketing and sales activities in the area of assigned responsibility and of any problems encountered along with recommended solutions.
Acquire and/or conduct market research necessary to evaluate proper planning and execution for Companies present and potential customers.
Forecast feasible market potential by present or potential customers by product classification. Submit yearly forecast with sales and projected profits.
Be aware of actions and trends in our competitive market areas in order to give proper direction to Companiesmarketing program and penetrations.
Attend trade shows and association meetings as required.
Attend all scheduled meetings, communication and training seminars established by the Sales Manager or other senior management team members.
Prospect for new business, preparing/presenting proposals and maintaining existing relationships.
Serve as a point of contact for customer issues.
Check any problems that customers may have, resolve issues if possible, and/or report them to your Sales Manager or customer service personnel.
Manage the return of damaged or mis-shipped merchandise.
Constantly be aware of future or potential new business or potential new accounts; qualify and follow leads on the telephone, and in person, as called for in each circumstance.
Develop monthly, weekly and daily sales itineraries and call reports for maximum customer effectiveness. As requested, provide weekly sales logs to the Sales Manager and President.

High School Diploma
Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

5 years’ experience in outside sales in the industry is required.

• Demonstrate ability to interact and communicate effectively with all company employees, customers and vendors.

• Able to assess, analyze, and solve problems with customers, vendors, and all channels of distribution.
• Ability to make critical decisions while following company procedures.
• Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize multiple responsibilities and complete tasks and assignments within specific timeframes.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills required including conflict resolution.
• Work independently and as a strong team member.
• Self-motivated and ability to excel with minimum supervision.
• Proficient in the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to learn and utilize other corporate enterprise systems.
• The drive to achieve personal success and advancement.
