Job Description

My client in Barrie is looking for a Lab Technician who may have had experience in the gas or HVAC industry to test/validate consumer products in a manufacturing facility to ensure it is applicable with safety standards and compliance. This role is very unique as it would be part of the client's Research & Development department.



Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

* Research and development of air conditioning and gas heating units

* Build prototypes utilizing hand and power tools

* Utilize instrumentation for data collection

* Interpret drawings and schematics

* Diagnose / Troubleshoot units

* Data documentation - Safety and Performance of units

* Catalogue and organize information

* Production launches

* Sheet Metal Layout and Fabrication: creating hand sketches

* Build and assemble prototype units



Additional Details:

* College Diploma in Engineering Technology or equivalent and/or Directly Related Experience

* 2 years relevant experience, ideally as Engineering Technician/Technologist; and/or

* 5 years with Directly Related Experience in gas or HVAC products and applications and/or sheet metal manufacturing including product assembly.

* G3 (preferred - can be completed within 2 yrs.)

* ODP Certificate (preferred - willingness to complete)

* Welder/Fitter

* GD&T Tolerance

* Problem Solving

* Blue Print reading

* Knowledge of DFMEA

* Clear understanding of refrigeration cycles, brazing, charging systems, refrigeration piping, layout, AC circuitry up to 600 volts.



* $23+/hr (permanent position, day shift, benefits + RRSP)
