Job Description

In tandem with our client, a leader in the petrochemical industry, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Field Coordinator to fulfill a contract position. This position is located at our client site is located 25kms east of Red Deer, Albert. Working hours for this position will be 10 hours shifts 6:30am - 5:00pm Monday to Thursday.



Principle Responsibilities:

Technical:

* Responsible for validation of project progress, construction resource usage, schedule and preparation of identified construction trends and changes

* Providing input into squad checks and project reviews

* Providing technical support to commissioning activities

* Approving key schedules and execution methodologies

* Reviewing/recommending/negotiating contractor change orders

* Ensuring non-conformances are resolved

* Participating in bid package development and evaluation

* Providing primary input into contractor performance evaluations

* Interfacing with plant personnel as appropriate

* Interfacing with engineering as appropriate

* Making key technical decisions related to construction specifications and standards, ensuring that they meet company and site requirements related to safety, environment and functionality

* Managing the planning, progress reporting and cost control of assigned projects

* Ensuring that project execution activities are effectively integrated with manufacturing facilities, needs and standards where appropriate

* Managing interfaces with governmental and regulatory agencies as appropriate

* Hold contractor(s) accountable to deliver on contract terms and conditions

* Perform interim inspections to ensure that all installed materials are in conformance with the applicable standards, drawings and specifications as identified in the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).



Detailed Qualifications:

* Minimum journeyman level trade ticket in a mechanical trade, or related technology diploma

* Minimum 10 years' construction or maintenance related experience

* The ideal candidate will have planning and coordination experience on construction projects

* Commissioning & Startup experience would be considered an asset

* Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience working at petrochemical plant in Joffre, Alberta



Job Knowledge & Skills

* Estimating, planning and scheduling skills and experience in mechanical trades

* Thorough background in and knowledge of Maintenance Work Management processes; specifically, Olefins furnace area

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Experience and knowledge of OH&S requirements and regulations

* Working knowledge of MS Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel).

* Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (SAP) (notifications, work orders, MIDs, Reservations, Work Plans, PR/PO, etc.)

* Estimating, planning and scheduling skills and experience in mechanical trades

* Thorough background in and knowledge of Maintenance Work Management processes; specifically, Olefins furnace area

* Brown field construction processes & growth of awareness to inherent challenges
