Job Description

An Environmental Health & Safety Engineer / Director career opportunity is available with a successful and expanding manufacturing facility in Hanover, PA. This position is accountable for the management of occupational health issues and ensures that the safety and environmental programs are applied according to the policy and regulations in force.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Establish and implement plans to improve EH&S performance indicators

* Track and report EH&S metrics and ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations for environmental and safety areas including (OSHA, DER, EPA guidelines)

* Implement and maintain company safety policies and practices through inspections, meetings, accident investigations, and communications with plant management

* Organize safety, health and environmental training for new employees

* Establish accident prevention measures and develop safety-training programs

* Establish emergency response plan and team

* Assess departmental procedures and establish work safety standards

* Keep up to date with knowledge of industry standards

* Identify sources of physical safety hazards in facility work areas, investigate solutions and make recommendations for corrective action

* Identify high risk accident situations and assist various departments in the implementation of control strategies.

* Participate in any special assignments or projects relating to EH&S



QUALIFICATONS:

* BS in Occupational Health, Safety Science, Environmental Science, or related field, Plus *Environmental Engineering (schooling/ experience)

* 3-6 years EH&S manager / director level experience in a manufacturing environment (industrial safety, ergonomics)

* Working knowledge of: OSHA, EPA, Department of Environmental Resources (DER), Hazardous Communication Standard, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA), Underground and Above Ground Storage Tanks (UST & AGST)

* Strong Project Management skills

* Excellent analytical skills

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* Exemplary leadership skills and ability to work independently

* Proficient PC skills (MS Office)
