Job Description

CAD Designer / CNC Programmer

Position Description

Design and create drawings demonstrating not only function that follows form but also demonstrates your creative artistic flare as needed. Sound interesting? Are you proficient in AutoCAD and can you write CNC code to automate power driven machines? Let's talk!

This is what you will do on the job:

* Review client specifications and determine build-able design concept. Analyzes job order and performs necessary calculations.

* Create 3D CAD design blueprints.

* Specify time and materials needed to build work piece

* Coordinate with service team to ensure standards are met

* Make calculations for programming including where materials should be cut.

* Translate instructions into a computer automated manufacturing (CAM) program.

* Prepares geometric layout of designs using proper software.

* Determine sequence of operations in a program.

* Evaluate all completed designs to validate their functions and ensure they successfully reduce time and money for the client.

* Provides training for stakeholders in the plant as needed

* Complies with all safety rules and regulations.

Education and Experience

*High School diploma or Certification from accredited technical school.

*Associate's degree in CAD, CNC programming, a computer-related field or a mechanical field.

*Bachelor's degree in computer programming or computer-related field preferred.

*Knowledge of electronics and machine tools.

*Experience with programming.

*Continuing education to learn new techniques as they emerge.

Work Environment

*Time is spent in a climate controlled office environment.

*Time is spent in front of a computer screen keyboarding and manipulation a mouse.

*Must be able to do shift work.

*Must be willing to visit manufacturing warehouses to observe equipment in action and wear safety goggles and other PPE.

*Must be willing to work in areas with high levels of noise such as plants or engineering departments.


*Salaries range from $35,000 to $45,000 per year.

*Hourly wages range from $15 to $22 an hour.
