Job Description

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT SPECIALIST / LEAD position available with a leading manufacturing and distribution company. Position will be based in the NEW facility in the Toronto east area.

The Continuous Improvement Leader builds, maintains, and oversees strategies and programs that drive process improvements to support standardization across all facilities. Partnering with internal and external customers this role is responsible for ensuring process improvements align with company's strategic objectives.

Continuous Improvement:

Work with functional leaders to identify structure and champion operational improvement projects.

Oversees cost optimization projects including project identification, prioritization, and selection.

Clearly establish measurable project goals and effectively track progress to achieve timely results.

Develop and update the necessary procedures, work instructions, and associated documents to ensure processes are well established and sustainable.

Act as the site champion for continuous improvement through the application and facilitation of Lean & Six Sigma methodology, including process measurement and analysis, process improvement identification, planning, execution and control.

Drive the development of Score Cards, Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements

Works closely with the Production and Technical departments to improve efficiency and lower cost of production and distribution operations.

Change Management/Project Management:

Identify and facilitate process mapping sessions to reduce non-value activities and establish standard processes that deliver operational improvements.

Facilitates interaction among teams to ensure necessary work/ involvement in developing solutions.

Monitors project progress, tracks results, and presents analytics to cross functional teams

Develops ROIs for capital expenditures and outlines project opportunities.

Identify gaps in strategic and operational performance metrics, and work with all levels to establish and execute a strategy of improvement. i.e. Root Cause Analysis, Process Mapping/ Measurement)

Develop metrics and utilize data to measure processes, identify causes, and drive decisions.

Analyze and continuously review the current production processes and methodology

Work with plant leadership team to identify & create project plants to continuously improve production efficiency, safety, quality, costs and warehouse capacity.


Requires 5 years or more experience in a Continuous Improvement role in a Warehouse & Distribution environment.

Master data or strong with analytics.

Strong Working knowledge of Access, Excel and Visio.

Working knowledge with JD Edwards Enterprise One preferred.

Industrial Engineering background

Previous experience in a facilitation and/or project manager role.

Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team building skills are required.

Strong knowledge and application of Lean tools.

Strong operational management / leadership experience required.

Proven ability to drive change and act as change catalyst for the site
