Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

What's in it for you?

* Full time hours

* M-F - 7:30 am - 4:30 pm

* $38.20 per hour

* 6 month - contract

What is the job?

* Job Summary

o Responsible to ensure, at a minimum, company compliance with existing, new and emerging federal, state and international environmental and safety and health regulation

o Develop and deploy environmental and safety and health policies, systems, programs and processes

o The scope of a position may be site specific, regional across multiple sites or Enterprise wide

* Job Responsibilities

o Applies ES&H processes and implements improvements to established procedures

o Basic application of methods and techniques for hazard identification, hazard evaluation, risk assessment and control

o Conducts regulatory review and impacts analysis of moderate scope and complexity

o Initiates process changes as needed

o Conducts full site inspections and participates in compliance audits

o Collects and manages data and maintains data records

o Compiles and prepares reports and permit applications; analyzes for trends

o Contributes to ES&H teams and committees

o Develops and manages a local annual training plan including documentation and record-keeping based on an assessment of requirements

o Contributes to training program development and conducts ES&H training events

o Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity

o Refers to policies and practices for guidance

o Assists with written and spoken internal and external communication

o May help prepare reports, respond to surveys, develop and maintain documents, and contribute to team space or website content

o Participate in process and information management mapping

o Assists in the design and development of simple applications and tools

o Helps investigate and resolve problems with process, tools and applications

What you bring to the job?

* Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline or in the absence of a degree, HS Diploma/Equivalent plus six years of related experience

* Experience with chemical/environmental reporting (Tier II, Form R, bi-annual Hazardous Waste reporting)

* Emphasis on Chemical management including Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) and Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH)

* Familiarity with air emissions reporting

* Basic technical knowledge of ES&H processes and procedures

* Ability to pass a Background Check and Drug Screen
