Telecommunications/IP Technician Job Description

Under general supervision of the manager of Infrastructure Services, the Telecommunications Technician serves as a technical resource in the Technology Services group responsible for support of the established communication systems by installing, operating, and maintaining voice/data/video telecommunications network circuits and equipment in Attleboro campus. The resource will interface with internal server/network track leads, facility management team as well as external telecom service providers to support and resolve physical data circuitry and telephony issues in campus.

Job Responsibilities:

* Assist Service Desk personnel with telephone service tickets in the Attleboro campus.

* MACD support for Cisco phone system and phone sets in Attleboro

* Interface with telecom providers to maintain data/voice circuits (Verizon, Windstream, Level 3, Lightower and Virtela)

* Provide wiring specification and work with facilities team to install and maintain data cabling.

* Support for phone quality control (i.e. conference rooms, Executive phone support, etc)

* Attleboro server room and IDF/MDF telecom support (i.e. telco cabling, server room infrastructure, analog lines, patch panels, etc)

* Perform local "hand and feet" work for the server/network team. (Rack & Stack, provide console access etc.)

Job Requirements and Required Skills:

Telecommunications Technician shall be an expert problem-solvers who works well under pressure. The individual must be analytical and excellent communicators and enjoy challenges. The individual should have general knowledge and experience with telecommunications practice as well as IP Telephony based environments including Cisco Call Manager, Jabber and WebEx.

* Knowledge in various telecommunications systems and practices

* Basic diagnostic skills

* Strong computer skills, especially word processing and spreadsheet programs

* Customer service experience

* Experience troubleshooting the Cisco Jabber client on Windows, Mac and mobile devices.

* Experience troubleshooting WebEx related issues.

* Ability to meet physical requirements of the positions such as, standing, bending, and lifting of 50 lb.
