Job Description

Our client in Brantford, ON is a rapidly growing international manufacturer operating in the Petrochemicals and Plastics Industries. They are seeking an entrepreneurial Market Development Manager to manage their existing business in specialty compounds and spearhead new business initiatives.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities



* Analyzes market needs and develops the company's proprietary range of products for the Advanced Materials market including cross-linkable polyethylene and specialties markets. Cooperates, closely with the sales, R&D and technical service departments.

* Spearheads entry into new markets in the polyolefins space. Such markets may include materials for additive manufacturing, additives for wood-fibre plastic composites, compression molding materials or other polyolefins related markets.

* Identifies opportunities for new product development and shepherds them through the gated development process. Cooperates with product development, technical service and sales resources to commercialize new products.

* Works with VP Sales and Regional Sales Managers to develop the sales strategy for existing and new products.

* Development of the sales budget for Advanced Materials. P&L responsibility for this segment.

* Supports the company's corporate image as a technology leader in the industry.

* Communicates with sales people to determine customer needs and participates frequently in customer visits.

* Communicates with raw material suppliers regarding qualifications and contributes to the evaluation of new suppliers and materials.

* Represents the company at industry trade conferences and events. Follows closely all relevant industry associations and conferences for worldwide developments and trends.







QUALIFICATIONS:



* Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Engineering or Polymer Chemistry. A MBA or equivalent business management experience is required.

* Entrepreneurial individual able to identify new market opportunities and customer needs.

* Minimum 5-10 years of progressive experience in a combination of marketing/sales service and/or R&D in the polymers industry.

* Very good knowledge of polymer processing technology and an interest and ability to learn new processes.

* Solid knowledge of the specialty polymers (Cross-linkable, fuel-barrier, high performance) industry including knowledge of suppliers, customers, and competitors; and an interest and ability to learn new markets.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

* Excellent presentation skills required.

* Extensive global travel required.

* Strong communication skills with excellent English Language is required. Knowledge of Spanish, French, Chinese or Arabic - is an asset.
