Job Description

Responsible for performing pre-examination testing on patients presenting to our client's for pre-placement examinations. Assists the medical provider in providing injury care. Collects urine drug screens and performs breath alcohol testing. Will provide these services in the at our client's center, or on site as scheduled.


Direct Patient Care-

o Assists provider with injury care or physical exam.

o Interviews patients, measures vital signs and records information on patients' charts.

o Administers injections, phlebotomy or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests.

o Determines correct dosage for injections, as per standing orders and/or manufacturer protocols.

o Able to verbalize indications and contraindications for immunization/medication.

o Disposes of sharps properly.

o Explains procedure to patient.

o Accurately follows sterile procedure techniques.

o Performs bandaging and splinting for injured patients.

o Operates EKG, Audiometer, Spirometer, Titmus Machine and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.

o Instructs patient in discharge instructions.

o Communicates accurate patient exam and test results, work status information and client requests in a timely manner.

o Performs Urine Drug Screen Testing and Breath Alcohol Testing.

o Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.

o Packages UDS and blood samples accurately for laboratory processing.

o Performs daily calibrations on medical equipment when appropriate.

o Other duties as assigned.

Office Duties:

o Understands and explains DOT regulations for UDS and BAT testing.

o Responds to and follows instructions from medical staff.

o Documents information in an accurate, complete, clear and legible manner.

o Maintains medical records in an organized and efficient manner.

o Explains release forms and obtains signature of patient when appropriate.

o Has a clear understanding of client's exams, testing and injury care procedures.

o Able to review a patient's chart to ensure all paperwork and signature have been completed.

o Contacts clients to clarify questions.

o Photocopy and mail patient exam results to client contact person correctly and in a timely fashion as needed.

o Answers phone promptly and courteously. Provides appropriate answers to questions or directs call to proper person.

o Greets and directs patients, clients, sales people and visitors

o Other duties as assigned

o High School Diploma or General Education Degree

o One year certificate from college or technical school; or

o Three to six months related experience and/or training; or

o Equivalent combination of education and experience
