Job Description

Are you fresh out of graduate school with an Engineering background? Our client, a world class CPG manufacturer is looking for a Occupational Health& Safety Specialist to work at their manufacturing facility located in Etobicoke, Ontario, just minutes from Pearson International Airport.

This is a on year contract for a highly motivated individual that makes things happen, loves a challenge and meets deadlines and in return will have the opportunity to assist with a variety of tasks and projects with the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) team.

Qualification

* Mechanical/Chemical/Industrial/Engineering Science graduate

* Knowledge of health and safety

* Excellent communication, problem solving skills, interpersonal skills

* Ability to identify needs, initiate, co-ordinate and manage projects and implement solutions

* Excellent administrative skills (ie. Experience with MS Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint required)

* Ability to maintain a positive attitude, work independently and as team

* Demonstrate ability to multi task with proven organizational skills

Administrative Support to EHS team

* Support the Safety, Health and Environment department to enhance safety and environmental programs including but not limited to machine, process and chemical handling. This position also includes initiating various environmental initiatives, which may include data collection, analyzing trends, creation of reports and focused improvement projects

* Evaluate and update safety and environmental programs and policies as required

* Prepare and conduct safety related training for employees

* Attend workplace health and safety meetings, record meeting minutes and follow up on corrective actions

* Gather safety and environmental data and complete online reporting

* Assist in investigating incidents, gather near miss data and complete trend analysis.

* Working closely with line operators to promote continuous improvement of safety and environmental programs

* Involvement in various projects related to production such as reducing hand in machine, slip, trip and fall injuries, machine failure, Lock out Tag out and creating standard operating procedures

* Prepare reports on a regular basis related to the safety and environmental performance of the plant

* Participation in other initiatives within the plant.
