Job Description

An Occupational Health and Safety Nurse understand the importance of workplace safety and the critical role they play, ensuring the overall safety and well-being of all employees.



Our manufacturing client, located just 40 min north of the GTA is looking for a certified RN/RPN with a background in Occupational Health and Safety to assist in managing the day to day operations of the Health & Safety department.



OFFERINGS:

* Structured DAY hours (no shift work) 7:30am to 4pm, Mon - Friday

OVERVIEW:

* Ensures company is following all applicable safety regulations and create/update policies & procedures as required

* Administration of first aid treatment for injuries or care for personal employee illnesses

* Oversees administration of WSIB paperwork and work with health care providers to ensure safe recovery and mitigate costs to employer

* Prepares & conducts safety training

* Serves as management member of the JHSC, conduct Safety Stats meetings with management

* Leads in emergency preparedness (fire, severe weather, spill, accident, evacuation etc)

* Accident investigations (interview & documentation)

* Regular plant tour to ensure safety of equipment, processes, etc.

* Medical contact for the Emergency Response Team

* Oversee all medical aspects of STD and LTD claims



YOU OFFER:

* Post-secondary training in related field and current Certificate of Competence

* Good understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (ideally industrial/mfg setting)

* Experience with WSIB, STD & LTD claims management process

* Proficiency with MS Office

* Strong interpersonal, communication & multi-tasking skills

* Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team setting

* Able to work occasional overtime (1 Saturday per month)

* Continuous learning, attention to detail, able to maintain highest degree of confidentiality
