Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Payroll Project Manager. Our client is working on a special project and is in need of someone in this role for 6 - 12 months. If you have the experience that is listed below, please sign up at and call us at 812.429.7321

Duties include, but are not limited to:

* Direct all facets of payroll operations for the U.S. and Puerto Rico including weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for non-exempt and exempt employees in manufacturing, office/clerical, sales/marketing, executive and on out of country assignments.

*Maintain strong working relationship with third party payroll vendor

*Understand third party processes/systems to ensure payroll accurately computes and records time, earnings, employee benefits, special deductions, taxes, garnishments and other items that affect employees' net pay and/or company liability.

*Understand and manage earnings and tax processing for equity income including tax deposits, splitting expat earnings between markets, and properly recording in W-2 records.

*Understand employee foreign assignment payroll; handling payroll set up for allowances, deductions, hypothetical tax and processing imputed income.

*Investigate and resolve system and logic issues and manage projects for improvements and system changes.

*Ensure accurate flow of data in bi-directional interfaces between Payroll and other systems - HRIS, Benefits, Savings Plan, and Stock Plan providers.

* Provide support and develop strong relationships with others.

*Manage and develop U.S. Payroll staff to create a strong team

*Partner with business areas (HR, Compensation, Benefits, Legal, Tax, and Finance) to provide expertise and data needed to complete their reporting, budget, projection, and audit responsibilities.

*Maintain awareness of current practices in payroll processing and communicate organization wide and with third party vendor about changes in current payroll practices, tax regulations, and all levels of government laws and policies.

*Oversee internal and external audits

* Record proper and timely accounting of payroll activity

*Ensure proper recording of payroll journal entries and manage and reconcile multiple general ledger accruals including Fringe Benefits, Severance, Pension, Banked/Deferred Vacation, Salary/Wage, and Expat Tax Accruals.

*Calculate and monitor the US fringe benefit rate.

*Maintain pension accruals working with External Reporting and HR Benefits along with outside actuaries

* Lead payroll system replacement or upgrade projects when required.

*Project management skills required to supervise a team of individuals through the SDLC procedures required to deliver a technology solution.

*Understand and execute all tasks to deliver data migration, data validation, and testing of system functionality.


The candidate should have demonstrated payroll experience, be analytical with strong problem solving and technical skills, possess excellent communication and organizational skills, possess the ability to work with extreme accuracy under pressure, and provide solid advice/data to others while demonstrating strong team building skills.

Minimum 3-5 years of recent experience as Payroll Manager or Certified Payroll Professional with payroll experience, in a large company environment.

Bachelor degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance related field.

Strong knowledge of payroll-related U.S. legal, tax, and compliance requirements.

Knowledge and experience with payroll accounting and taxes, preferred.
