Job Description

Welder I

Pay Rate: $14.69/hr.

**Candidates must have welding certificate already and pass Eaton's welding test.**

Job Functions:

* May perform basic set-up operations on machinery and welding of parts.

* Maintain necessary records for all operations.

* Monitor equipment conditions and perform basic preventative maintenance.

* Perform simple to moderate MIG welding operations.

* Adheres to all Vicksburg Plant Quality standards and checks completed parts to ensure compliance. Makes sure necessary quality adjustments are completed when required in order to meet quality goals

* Adheres to all MESH (environmental, Safety, health) rules and regulations, and work instructions and checks area/employees to ensure compliancy.

* Maintain equipment and perform housekeeping duties as necessary using the principles of 5S, ensuring an orderly working and storage area.

* Assist team in achieving plant and department goals.

* Assist with on-the-job training and continuous improvement

* Fosters an environment that promotes Eaton's goals, philosophies, and encourages continuous improvement through participation and teamwork.

* Perform in other trades as instructed by supervisor or set-up personnel or other related duties as assigned.

Tools and Equipment

* Include hand tools, basic measuring instruments, grinders, welding machines, plasma torches, cranes, drill press, saws, hand trucks, fork trucks and safety protection equipment.

Supervisor Responsibilities

* This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Reporting structure

* A lead directly reports to supervisor and indirectly reports to the Poles and Feeder Focus Factory Manager.

Basic Qualifications

* Verifiable welding and a minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment.

* High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school required.

* Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and requires frequent standing or bending.

* Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

* Only candidates in the immediate geographic area (50 mile radius) will be considered.

* Must take and pass practical welding test.

Position Criteria

* Working knowledge of the mechanical, electrical, and safety procedures of a manufacturing facility.

* Basic computer knowledge of Windows based operating systems and programs.

* Ability to use measuring tape, and variable gauges, such as calipers.

* Ability to read and understand formal, informal drawings, and/or engineering drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, manufacturing instructions and process documents./

* Knowledge of basic shop math

* Ability to read and follow standard work

* Ability to use good judgment and problem solving skills to make informed decisions

* Must be able to communicate effectively across all levels. Working knowledge of the mechanical, electrical, and safety procedures of a manufacturing facility.

* Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


* Welding Certification
