Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE

Install, maintain, repair, and upgrade equipment, machinery, and processes. Assist employees in proper operation and maintenance of equipment and machinery. Maintain accurate records involving installation, maintenance, repairs and upgrades. Insure that the Company safety program is adhered to and that good housekeeping practices are used consistently. Each employee should have a working understanding of their role in supporting the Food Safety Management System and the food safety hazards of the job to which they are assigned.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES



FUNCTIONS:

The Maintenance Mechanic will work with sprockets, chains, variable speed belts, and gears. Will be required to perform mechanical repairs on all equipment; to include, but not limited to, gear boxes, bearings, lubricants, valves, filters, regulators, pumps, fluid storage devices, calculations pertaining to fluid power, single and three phase power, various test instruments for voltage, amperage, resistance and continuity.



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret parts manuals to assure that correct parts are used.

* Must be able to use various shop machines: welding torch, cutting torch, saws, presses, grinders, etc.

* Must be able to fabricate parts and equipment from stock.

* Use ladders, as needed, to access machinery.

* Reach, crawl, kneel, etc., and move various components of the machinery and facility to effect repairs and general maintenance.

* Move raw materials, finished product, supplies, etc., with or without assistance.

* Requires operation of forklift and Company motor vehicles as needed

* High level of mechanical/electrical aptitude

* Ability to quickly identify and troubleshoot highly specialized converting equipment

A broad base of current technical knowledge is required to ensure that standards are met and efficiencies are maintained. Problem solving and decision making abilities are essential for success.



QUALIFICATIONS



REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

- Knowledge of mechanics and machine operation

- Testing equipment

- Knowledge of hand tools

- Prior use of power tools

- Knowledge of welding



EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

- Mechanic experience required

- Previous welding experience preferred



SKILLS/ABILITIES:

- Ability to read a tape measure

- Ability to troubleshoot machinery and find the solution to the problem

- Well organized

- Ability to work independently

- Strong problem solving ability
