Job Description

Our Barrie client that specializes in designing and building custom machinery/equipment for the automotive industry is growing again! Join the custom shop's team where your ideas and input are valued and implemented!

This role requires you to not only design the equipment, tooling and fixtures, but to use your project management skills to manage the build and delivery to the customer after successful completion of meeting with customers on-site to assess their needs with respect to their production lines

The role:

* design equipment, tooling and fixtures

* travel to customer sites to establish measurements and conduct needs analysis

* generate detailed drawings for production; approvals

* manage project from end-to-end (design to build to shipment)

* manage budgets

You Bring:

* extensive experience in 3D CAD design software

* 3-5 years of experience with mechanical design of equipment/tooling/fixtures

* automotive experience ideal

* exceptional communication skills with project management

* strong problem solving and sound judgment

* college or university diploma/degree in mechanical engineering

your ob Summary

Meeting with engineers, project managers and clients to establish process needs and requirements. Travelling to job sites and factories to obtain measurements and observe production lines. Using CAD software to develop concepts and layouts. Presenting solutions for approval. Designing tooling and fixturing as well as general mechanical equipment. Generating detail drawings for production. Management of projects including working within timelines and budgets.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

College diploma or university degree in mechanical engineering

Good communication and negotiation skills

Good judgement and prioritization skills

Problem solving ability

Experience with 3D CAD software
