Job Description

Manpower is currently seeking a Construction Project Engineer for a long term contract position in Calgary. Reporting to the Construction Team Leader, the Construction Project Engineer works closely with members of the Engineering and Construction Management teams to ensure the safe, timely, and cost effective delivery of construction services to the business units.



The primary role of the Construction Project Engineer is to provide technical/engineering support for field construction activities on projects. The Construction Engineer is the focal point for all field technical problems and issues during construction. They assist the Construction Managers in technical decision-making and ensure all changes, which have an impact on the design or design intent, are duly engineered, recorded and communicated to the responsible Project Leader.



Specific responsibilities of the Construction Engineer include, but are not limited to:

- Proactively search for and resolve potential construction problems related to technical specs, materials, constructability and construction execution.

- Provide timely responses to all construction issues relating to the drawings, specifications, and construction implementation.

- Ensure integrity of Management of Change process, including but not limited to, Requests for Information, Field Change Notices and Construction Redlines.

- Coordinate closely on engineering matters with both Internal and External Engineering (EPC) personnel.

- Provide engineering input and support for all scope Change Orders (CO) and trends as required.

- Expedite the release of any drawing reviews such as Shop Drawing Review process and other reviews as related to construction deliverables.

- Ensure, in conjunction with the Construction Manager and QA personnel, that all changes to the original design are approved and properly documented (including as-built markups)

- Support department Field Trouble Report (FTR) System and lessons learned for construction projects.

- Actively participate in Construction Excellence meetings and similar forums to bring up trends and areas for improvement.

- Assist Construction Managers in providing technical oversight on Construction Contractor activities both in planning as well as field execution and turnovers.

- Review IFR/IFC packages and assist in planning process.

- Support field safety audits and Responsible Care processes as needed.

- Provide necessary support and/or resources to all members of the Construction Management Team as required.

- Provide guidance to junior field/construction engineers as needed.

Requirement

* Engineering degree with a P.Eng designation is required for this position

* Previous field construction experience is mandatory
