Job Description

Manufacturing company in Muskegon is looking for a purchasing clerk.



Job Purpose:

Responsible for managing the purchase of material for stock and production items. Will work directly with all internal stakeholders to ensure requirements are met and delivered to production on time. Along with vendor partners this role must ensure all product is of the highest quality standards, delivered on time, and priced competitively. Management of inventory along with materials team will be of the utmost importance.

Duties:

 Consider best price, quality, availability, and reliability when purchasing products.

 Place purchase orders and monitor on-time status of delivery.

 Accurate ordering of material and services to meet customer demand based on historical, forecast, and trend data.

 Resolve open POs and late delivery issues with suppliers.

 Coordinate with shipping for pick up and milk runs.

 Develop and maintain vendor relationships.

 Support Supplier Quality to address scorecard related issues and supplier performance.

 Communicates shortages and supply issues to leadership and support resolution process.

 Coordinate with Inventory Control Clerk on all DMR's back to supplier for replacement/credit.

 Interface directly with all departments in the company with regards to materials that have been requested to ascertain specifications and need.

 Setup, Review and Maintain Kanban systems where optimal.

 Coordinate the maintenance of inventory levels in emergency situations (contingency plans for materials).

 Request proposals from various manufacturers and distributors for all inventory and production items to maintain a flexible supply chain and competitively price regularly used items proactively.



Education/Training/Experience:

 Minimum of an Associate's Degree in business management or similar discipline, Bachelor's degree and/or APICs certification preferred.

 Lean manufacturing training such as 5s, Standard Work, Kan Ban and Value Stream Mapping desired.

 Must be comfortable working with ERP databases (Epicor).

 Proficiency in all Microsoft Platforms (Google Platforms a plus)
