Job Description

Our client, a leading manufacturer in the Waterloo region is seeking an experienced electrician to join their team. This is a permanent position, set to start immediately.

Job Summary

The Electrician's role is to maintain plant and production electrical equipment within a dynamic facility.

What's the job?

* Is a safety advocate; lead by example by complying with all plant and Occupational Health and Safety policies.

* Maintenance of site equipment

* Completion of preventative and predictive maintenance inspections

* Perform general inspection of plant electrical equipment on a daily basis.

* Lockout any electrical equipment to satisfy all safety requirements.

* Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a diverse, fast paced environment. This includes but not limited to PLCs, motor controls, safety sensors, relays, VFDs, etc.

* Log parts out of inventory and record as necessary.

* Maintain plant PA and intercom systems.

* Make wiring changes according to code and update electrical schematic drawings as required.

* Execute daily assigned work.

* Respond to work orders and service calls in a timely fashion.

* Report and communicate any problems or changes made, ensuring information is shared with all team members (through the use of a logbook).

* Report all dangerous behaviour or unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisor

* Work well within a team environment (trades group and Production).

* Participate in training as required

* Additional duties as assigned.

What you bring to the role?

* Valid Industrial Electrician Certificate of Qualification or 309D

* 3-5 years previous Electrician experience, preferably in an industrial/manufacturing environment

* Strong working knowledge of PLC's, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), high voltage systems

* Familiar with schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, power distribution.

* Experience in electrical repairs

* Troubleshooting hardware by using relevant software and drawings

* Ability to work as a member of a team with minimal supervision

* Ability to work shifts

* Ability to work safely at heights.

* Good communication skills, both verbal and written

* Motivated and positive attitude
