Technical Standards Engineer

Manpower is currently seeking a Technical Standards Engineer to fulfill a full-time position for a Major Pipeline Company in Edmonton.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Manage the process for the creation of standardized designs, utilizing internal and external resources

* Ensure engineering design standards and equipment specifications meet compliance policy

* Confirm engineering design standards and equipment specifications are available and understood by end users

* Support engineering design standards and equipment specifications end users

* Ensure design standards and equipment specifications meet compliance policy

* Assist in the development of the annual review and update plan

* Meet scorecard objectives for completion of review and update activities

* Coordinate review and update activities for assigned standards and specifications

* Investigate and link MP and LP project safety, design, cost and schedule learnings with standards and specifications

* Understand technical content and issues of assigned standards and providing support to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)

* Utilize Management of Change processes

* Assist in the training and education of MP and LP projects, Subject Matter Experts and stakeholders on Technical Standards processes and procedures

* Support engineering design standards and equipment specifications end users:

o Promptly respond to queries and change requests

o Assist with the creation and maintenance of supporting and historical information

o Solicit technical, process and procedure feedback from end users

o Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of processes and procedures

o Implement newly developed process and procedures

* Quality of performance of job duties impacts the workload and schedule of Technical Publications and SMEs

* Standards published with errors not addressed during review cycle have the potential to impact project budgets and schedules, as well as safety, environment and regulatory non-compliance

Education and Experience:

* Undergraduate degree in Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution

* Eligible to register as a P.Eng. or P.E. in the Province or State of employment

* Minimum of 4 years specific experience in project management within a technical environment, including contract management responsibilities

* Coordinate reviews with a diverse team of internal and external individuals with competing objectives

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate to a wide variety of Subject Matter Experts, consultants, stakeholders and end users

* Works to deadlines, including motivating others to meet said deadlines

* Understand and appreciate different perspectives

* Solid planning, organizing and coordinating skills

* Ability to work within the team and individually under minimal supervision

* Strong problem solving and technical skills

* Proficient with Microsoft Office suite software
