Job Description

We are currently seeking a Health and Safety Manager to be located in High Springs, FL and reports to the Factory Manager.



The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for maintaining a proactive culture by providing technical leadership and expertise for the manufacturing of all products. This position requires close interaction with associates in all functions, subcontractors, outside vendors. The principle responsibility is to assure all procedures are fully implemented and functional in meeting compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, guidelines . The responsibility also encompasses awareness as well as continuous improvement programs are in place to assure overall competitive implementation progress. The candidate must have entrepreneurial program building mindset.



Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide the leadership and management skills to assure the Health and Safety programs are implemented and maintained in an appropriate manner and within budgetary limits.

Assure the proper policies and procedures are implemented and maintained with particular emphasis on core regulatory compliance elements assuring the facility and operation operates within other routine program validations of the facilities and equipment for compliance.

Assure that technical training is provided to the facility/ processing personnel to maintain awareness, technical expertise required for operations that comply with regulatory requirements while also meeting key performance indicators (KPIs).

Develop and lead a management driven Safe Behavior Observation, LOTO, Machine Guarding, Powered industrial vehicle programs with compliance/performance measured & reported to operations management team.

Provide the technical interface with local/state/federal government agencies as appropriate to maintain effective working relationships and to ensure regulatory compliance.

Provide the technical expertise and management guidance to identify potential process failures, investigate process failures that lead to workplace accidents and environmental impacts. Including investigation, monitoring of accidents and incidents involving fire, hazardous materials, unsafe situations, security issues and/or non-compliance issues ensuring corrective action recommendations appropriately addresses procedural changes as necessary for the prevention of future incidents.

Develops and leads the implementation of on-site safety, environment, and/or emergency management programs designed to respond to individual situations and to improve overall safety conditions in the factory. Responsible for notification to and other appropriate crisis management personnel on serious issues related to workplace safety, regulatory and issues which might result in media notification or litigation.

Keeps current on federal, state, and local legislation regarding NFPA/OSHA/EPA compliance requirements. Maintains knowledge of current and emerging issues and trends in area of regulatory compliance.

Develops and maintains site-specific manual, records of inspections, and incidents relating to Safety, Health, Security and Environment.



Requirements:

A minimum of 5 years of work experience in a workplace safety, secutiry, and environmental program management.

Professional board certification in Safety or Environment preferred

A minimum of 5 years of administration and compliance with State/Federal OSHA, EPA, and local Air Quality Management District.



Ability to travel on a periodic basis and is willing to relocate.
