Job Description

Required Function 1:Senior Project Manager leads and manages multiple complex, highly visible projects across the enterprise. Provides leadership and has accountability for execution of several concurrent projects within the portfolio. This position is responsible for establishing and improving the business processes, methods, tools, and metrics necessary to drive consistent project delivery excellence. The Senior Project Manager collaborates with business partners across CPS to build relationships necessary to drive excellence and value delivery in execution. This position plays a significant role in mastering cross-functional collaboration and defining tangible business outcomes. This role is responsible for timely and effective written and verbal communications within the project and across stakeholder groups. This role reports to the Director of Program Management as part of the Office of the CIO. Leadership ' This position is a critical member of a team of highly effective Project Management professionals who are responsible for following CPS Energy defined best practices for project value delivery. Possesses strong Executive presence along with the ability to manage and meet expectations of Senior and Executive leadership. Has significant experience successfully managing projects, people, and / or departments. Demonstrates leadership and establishes trust within the PMO, project teams, and with business partners. Models the behaviors necessary to define, deploy and deliver project results at all levels of the organization. Understands, practices, and incorporates organizational change leadership into project management methodologies. Progressively becomes trusted advisor and mentor within the PMO and other areas of CPS Energy. Provides thought leadership regarding Project and Portfolio management processes and execution. Accountability ' Accountable for the leadership, planning, and execution of large and complex projects and programs with success identified as on time, on budget and defined value delivered. Accountable for the financial management of assigned projects, including but not limited to forecasting, accrual, reporting, and variance analysis. Accountable for timely and effective communication within the project team and across stakeholder groups. Accountable for supporting the results of a portfolio sequencing process and establish effective resource demand and capacity management to ensure resources are effectively deployed. Partners with the portfolio management function to ensure there is clear direction and execution of processes required to approve and prioritize portfolio and project demand. Accountable for managing and reporting on the projects in all stages across the portfolio. Accountable for leveraging and improving the necessary tools and practices for visibility and transparency for portfolios and projects. Accountable for mentoring other project managers in the organization. Performance Management, Methodology, and Continuous Improvement - Effectively defines and deploys world-class Project Management practices and tools for project prioritization, planning and execution. Provides overall Project governance and oversight to ensure compliance to standards and to drive excellent execution. Develops Key Performance Indicators (KPI)/metrics, standard Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Project Management Service Catalog and reporting mechanisms. Coaches/mentors Project Managers to achieve and improve results.
