Job Description

Staff Accountants are experts in maintaining General Ledger Accounts & Business transactions, applying analytical work and a thorough review of financial records. Move your accounting career north to the picturesque region of sunny Huronia!


* Assist the Controller with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Finance dept

* Budget/forecast variance and analysis

* Processing of accounts payable, ensure all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately

* Processing of accounts receivable transactions and misc. sales transactions in timely manner

* Analyze payments differences and liaise with other local departments to ensure payment of overdue amounts

* Prepare accounting and month-end related journal entries

* Provide detailed analyses and explanations of all Finance/Controlling transactions

* Maintain monthly detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts

* Prepare documentation for external auditors and external institutions (Gov't, Insurance Stats Can)

* Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements and answer accounting and controlling questions by researching and interpreting data

* Prepare monthly reports and provide explanations to the stakeholders on any variance thereof

* Reporting on fixed assets (spent versus budget/forecast)

* Maintain CIP details, ensure the completeness of the fixed assets register, organize and participate in the annual fixed assets inventory;

* Assist in any (ad-hoc) analysis as requested by the Controller and/or CFO


* Post-Secondary education relating to accounting/finance

* 4+ years full cycle accounting experience (manufacturing an asset)

* Proven organizational skills, prioritization & time management skills

* High attention to detail, data analysis, compliance reporting, creation of reports & presentations

* Knowledge of ERP-software is a plus

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, especially Excel)

* Hands-on detail-oriented tasks

* Team player and can collaborate with other teams in the organization

* Demonstrated interpersonal, poise, tact & diplomacy

* Full cycle accounting experience in accounting, current with developments and trends

* Ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs

* Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management
