Job Description

Do you have 5 years of manufacturing experience? Are you a ROCK STAR MACHINIST ready for an awesome opportunity to step up? Can you read/interpret/analyze blueprints? Do you have cost and estimating experience?

The Cost Estimator is responsible for generating sales quotes, facilitating a smooth transfer of information between customers and the company. Supporting sales, finance, and operations as needed. The Estimator's activities will support the values, vision, mission, goals, and strategies of the company.

Job Specification


* 4 year Engineering Degree desired, preferably in Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent trade knowledge

* Strong mathematics foundation required

* Work experience may be considered in lieu of minimum education requirements


* Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience

* Costing and estimating experience

* Machining experience preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

* Ability to read blueprints is desired

* Ability to calculate geometric areas is desired

* Excellent verbal & written communication skills

* Experience in MS Office applications

* Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP

* Must be highly organized

* Must have high attention to detail

* Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously

* Must possess effective decision making and problem solving skills

* Must have basic knowledge of machining and manufacturing practices

* Ability to work with vendors, customers, and employees, with a emphasis on customer focus

Job Description:

* Analyze blueprints and customer requirements to prepare labor, machine, and material estimates

* Communicates effectively with customers on technical items

* Communicates effectively with sales, engineering, operations, outside services, and finance

* Ensure customer requirements are met via customer specifications and drawings

* Ensures that proper technical documentation and purchase order instruction are received from the customer at time of order and documented in the Job Quotation Worksheet (JQW)

* Issue quotations for job specific outside services as needed for machining, grinding, raw material, fixturing, hardware, transportation, etc

* Create pricing using proprietary software

* Issue quotations to the customers

* Keeps track of project timelines to guarantee on-time delivery of finished goods

* Estimates repetitive and "similar" quote requests as outlined

* Order entry and customer assistance on all products as required

* Provides data and sales forecasts to management as requested

* Participate in daily production / planning meetings

* Generates purchase orders and reconcile material receipts daily

* Coordinates shipping / receiving of customer & vendor orders (Raw Materials / Consumables)

* Complete Certificate of Compliance (COC) for all completed jobs

* Maintain Sharepoint record retention for all completed jobs and vendor requirements

* Assists with inventory management

* Assists in general office management tasks

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to sit or stand as needed to perform essential functions of the position

* Ability to periodically walk to other areas of the plant throughout the day

* Ability to use keyboard, reach above shoulder height, below the waist and lift

* Ability to tour customer's facilities and job sites if requested

* Ability to travel by air and car if requested
