Our client, [Industry Descriptor] is seeking a Payroll Assistant to join their team. As a Payroll Assistant, you will be part of the Payroll department supporting multi-site operations. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, strong computer proficiency, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fully electronic payroll environment—skills that will help you keep payroll accurate, timely, and compliant.
Job Title: Payroll Assistant
Location: Gillette, WY
Pay Range: DOE
Shift: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. (start time flexible between 7:00 or 8:00 a.m., with 7:00 a.m. preferred)
What's the Job?
- Maintain confidentiality and safeguard all payroll-related information while supporting payroll processing for multiple sites.
- Review and validate timecard data in UKG to ensure accuracy before payroll close.
- Participate in bi-weekly payroll processing for approximately 1,300 employees, including support for special payment runs across multiple locations and states.
- Enter and verify pre-payroll entries such as W-4s, direct deposits, personnel updates, benefits, and deductions.
- Support month-end and year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and distribution, and assist with labor reporting and discrepancy resolution.
What's Needed?
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- 1 year of experience in payroll, HR, accounting, or a related field required.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel), and comfort navigating electronic payroll systems (UKG preferred) and processes.
