Location: Mount Vernon, IL
Pay Rate: $16.00/hour
Schedule: M-F, 7:30am-4:30pm OR 8:00am-5:00pm

As an Ophthalmic Technician, you'll play a key role in ensuring patients receive high-quality care from the moment they arrive through their exam experience. Your support helps providers deliver efficient, accurate, and compassionate eye care while creating a positive experience for every patient.

What You'll Do

• Welcome patients and gather medical histories to prepare them for examinations
• Perform preliminary diagnostic testing, including visual acuity, refraction, visual fields, and tonometry
• Assist providers during eye exams, treatments, and minor procedures
• Accurately document patient information in electronic health records (EHR)
• Educate patients regarding eye health, medications, and follow-up care instructions
• Clean, maintain, and prepare ophthalmic equipment and instruments
• Ensure exam rooms remain organized, stocked, and ready for patient appointments
• Support efficient clinic operations by collaborating with providers and fellow team members
• Deliver exceptional patient service while maintaining accuracy and professionalism

What We're Looking For

• A current, up-to-date resume
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous ophthalmic, optical, healthcare, or medical office experience preferred
• Willingness to learn and train in ophthalmic procedures and equipment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to patient care
• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Basic computer proficiency and data entry experience
• Dependable, team-oriented, and adaptable to changing patient needs
• Ability to meet all client and compliance requirements
