Controls Engineer

Our client, Industrial Controls and Automation is seeking a Automation Specialist II to join their team. As a Automation Specialist II, you will be part of the Engineering and Controls team supporting project delivery from design through commissioning. The ideal candidate will have strong technical problem-solving skills, clear communication with customers and stakeholders, and a commitment to documentation and process-driven execution, which will align successfully in the organization.

Location: Houston, TX or Louisville, KY

Pay Range: $90000 - $100000

What's the Job?

• Design control system details end-to-end, including instrumentation configuration, preparation for implementation, implementation, testing, documentation, and training.
• Collaborate with project managers and estimators to assess potential projects and support proposal development.
• Read and interpret diagrams and documentation, and communicate with customers to understand objectives and preferences.
• Develop PLC and HMI solutions, including overall control system architecture, communication strategy, BOMs, IO lists, and control panel requirements.
• Lead small projects technically by building PLC and HMI templates, developing test plans and simulation logic, and supporting commissioning and troubleshooting.

What's Needed?

• 4 years of Industrial Controls experience in architectural, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry or a similar field.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related Bachelor’s discipline, or a related degree from a Technical College, or equivalent industrial controls experience.
• 4 years of experience in PLC programming, including ladder logic, function block, and structured text.
• Proficiency with Allen Bradley equipment and systems, plus familiarity with networking (Ethernet/IP).
• Experience and knowledge of HMIs, including development and support through testing and startup.
