Our client, a leading public sector organization specializing in municipal infrastructure and community services, is seeking a Deputy Director Public Works - Operations to join their team. As a Deputy Director Public Works - Operations, you will be part of the Public Works Department supporting various operational divisions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Deputy Director Public Works - Operations

Location:Leesburg, Virginia

Pay Range:$102,000 - $226,000

What's the Job?

  • Lead and oversee the Department of Public Work’s Operations, including Streets, Buildings and Grounds, Fleet, Stormwater, Solid Waste Services, and Urban Forestry divisions.
  • Develop and manage budgets, asset maintenance plans, and coordinate services across various town departments.
  • Supervise multiple staff including division superintendents and managers, ensuring effective team performance and development.
  • Coordinate emergency response efforts such as snow removal, storm damage cleanup, and other critical incidents.
  • Engage with residents, contractors, and external agencies to ensure compliance with regulations and deliver quality services.

What's Needed?

  • Bachelor's Degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • At least eight (8) years of experience in public works operations and construction.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience managing budgets for public works teams.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience managing diverse teams and projects.
  • Possession of OSHA 10 Certificate or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
