Automation Technician – Custom Automation & Robotics

Pay Rate: $26–$32/hr
Schedule: 8:00am–4:30pm, Monday–Friday
Assignment Length: Temp-to-Hire

Our client in Biddeford is hiring an Automation Technician to support the assembly, troubleshooting, and installation of custom automated systems in a clean, air‑conditioned metal fabrication environment. This position offers competitive pay and is temp‑to‑hire, with outstanding benefits if/when hired permanently.

This is a hands-on, highly technical role working with custom automation, robotics, and computer‑controlled systems, ideal for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, building, and seeing projects through from assembly to installation. Apply today!

Typical daily duties:

• Assemble, repair, and maintain custom automation and robotic systems
• Perform automation setup, startup, debugging, and routine diagnostics
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues
• Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and bills of materials
• Assist with documentation, quality standards, and customer training
• Support field service and machine installations after training period

What we’re looking for:

• High school diploma required; Automation Technology or Mechatronics degree preferred
• Electrical wiring, crimping, cable assembly, and mechanical/electrical assembly experience
• Basic knowledge of PLCs, sensors, motor drives, vision systems, and pneumatics
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints and perform basic troubleshooting with engineers
• Proficient with hand/power tools, precision measuring tools, and Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
• Willingness to travel after ~2 months of training; capable of standing 8–10 hours and lifting up to 50 lbs
