Job Title: Mechanical, Test & Validation Engineer | 1 year contract

Location: Ann Arbor, MI

Pay Range: $43/HR

What's the Job?

  • Coordinate and execute powertrain durability testing activities for development vehicles across the United States, ensuring timely, high-quality results.
  • Own vehicle test readiness by coordinating vehicle preparation, confirming required software/calibration/hardware/instrumentation are installed, and performing pre-test performance and functionality checks.
  • Drive day-to-day mileage accumulation and durability testing execution, monitoring progress, driver feedback, downtime, and deviations from the approved test plan.
  • Coordinate emissions laboratory scheduling and follow-up by reviewing emissions and OBD results for completeness and plausibility, and supporting additional testing when irregularities are found.

What's Needed?

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, or a related engineering field.
  • Minimum two years of experience with light-duty engine or powertrain development, including combustion, emissions control, OBD, drivability, calibration, or durability testing.
  • Experience with light-duty engine control units; experience with Bosch control units is strongly preferred.
  • Working understanding of light-duty emissions and OBD regulations and how they apply to vehicle development and testing.
  • Proficiency with powertrain development and data-analysis tools such as INCA and MATLAB/Simulink, plus strong communication skills for concise technical reporting to a global audience.

What's in it for me?

  • Opportunity to contribute directly to conventional and electrified powertrain robustness through durability testing and validation.
  • Hands-on ownership of vehicle readiness, test execution, and technical follow-through from detection to countermeasure verification.
  • Collaboration with a large cross-functional Powertrain Support team, emissions laboratories, workshops, test drivers, suppliers, and global engineering partners.
  • Structured problem-solving and technical documentation that helps teams close issues efficiently and improve future test processes.
  • A role built around quality, safety, and data integrity—where your attention to detail directly impacts outcomes.
