R&D Scientist & Technical Leader

Our client, a leader in the chemical and coating industry, is seeking a R&D Scientist & Technical Leader to join their team. As a R&D Scientist & Technical Leader, you will be part of the Research & Development department supporting innovative product development initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, innovative thinking, and collaborative skills, which will align successfully in the organization.

What's the Job?

• Lead and execute research and development projects focused on waterborne coating chemistries and formulations.
• Develop and optimize coating formulations across various systems including primer, basecoat, and topcoat for liquid waterborne, solventborne, and 2K coatings.
• Apply expertise in acrylic, epoxy, urethane, polyaspartics, and sil(ox)anes to innovate and improve product offerings.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scale up manufacturing processes and ensure product quality and regulatory compliance.
• Drive technical innovation, scout new ideas, and contribute to the competitive landscape through continuous learning and research.

What's Needed?

• Minimum 10 years of technical experience in product development within the coating or related scientific fields.
• MS or equivalent degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline, with strong organic chemistry knowledge.
• Extensive knowledge of coating chemistries, application science, and formulation science for various coating systems.
• Proven leadership skills with at least 4 years of supervisory or management experience in a diverse workforce.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality assurance, scale-up procedures, and regulatory considerations.
