Our client, a leader in the food industry, is seeking a Quality Specialist to join their team. As a Quality Specialist, you will be part of the Quality Assurance department supporting food safety initiatives and compliance efforts. The ideal candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, proactive communication skills, and a strong scientific background, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Quality Specialist

Location: Bridgewater, NJ

Pay Range: $32.28

Shift: / M-F 8am - 5pm Hybrid

What's the Job?

  • Create and review raw material specifications focusing on microbiology and chemical contaminants
  • Perform Food Safety Assessments and support the development of pHACCP and rMMS for new products and technologies
  • Ensure compliance with Nestlé Standards and Regulatory requirements through audits and verification activities
  • Support factory visits from regulatory bodies such as FDA or USDA and external certification audits
  • Transfer technical knowledge to operations through training and documentation to promote quality and food safety awareness

What's Needed?

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Food Science, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of food microbiology, including microorganisms, growth conditions, pathogen risks, and food safety implications, and/or toxicology related to chemical contaminants and risk assessment.
  • Experience developing or reviewing ingredient/raw material specifications, conducting food safety or risk assessments, and supporting technical documentation and quality decision-making.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, food quality, food safety, R&D, regulatory, or supplier quality functions within the food industry.
  • Strong scientific expertise with the ability to support broader quality and project activities outside the laboratory setting
  • Experience with HACCP, Preventive Controls (PCQI), Food Safety Risk Assessments, Supplier Quality, ISO/FSSC/SQF systems, or regulatory audit support.
  • Experience evaluating microbiological hazards and chemical contaminant risks in ingredients or finished products.
