Specimen Technician

Pay Rate: $17.95 - $20.65 per hour (based on experience)

Employment Type: Contingent with potential pathway for hire

Schedule: 1:00pm-5:30pm

As a Specimen Technician I, you are a critical part of the laboratory operations team. Your work ensures specimens are accurately processed, documented, and delivered for testing, helping maintain quality standards and supporting exceptional service for patients and healthcare providers.

What You'll Do

• Perform specimen processing functions including presorting, centrifugation, aliquoting, and specimen preparation
• Retrieve, sort, and distribute laboratory specimens accurately and efficiently
• Enter specimen and test order information while maintaining data accuracy
• Perform specimen pickup and delivery within the laboratory environment
• Assist with imaging, documentation, and filing processes
• Monitor workflow and help resolve specimen-related issues
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Follow biohazard safety procedures, compliance standards, and PPE requirements
• Communicate effectively with laboratory staff and other internal stakeholders
• Support departmental productivity and quality goals in a high-volume environment

What We're Looking For

• A current, up-to-date resume
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Strong data entry skills with the ability to accurately enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour
• Basic computer proficiency required
• Ability to learn specimen types, laboratory processes, and compliance requirements
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Previous laboratory, medical, hospital, or specimen processing experience preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Experience in a production or high-volume work environment preferred
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of staff
• Ability to meet compliance requirements
• Must be eligible and provide proof of eligibility to work in the US
