Job Title: Inspector

Location: Costa Mesa, CA

Pay Range: $25-$28

Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

What's the Job?

  • Perform manual dimensional inspections of tight-tolerance machine components, assemblies, and finished products from external suppliers and in-house manufacturing, measuring features and identifying visual defects as small as 10 microns (0.010 mm) to ensure conformance with design specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards.
  • Conduct receiving, first article, in-process, and final inspections using precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, pin and thread gauges, dial indicators, and optical comparators.
  • Evaluate parts under proper lighting and magnification for cosmetic and surface defects (e.g., scratches, dents, burrs, porosity, and plating/coating flaws) and disposition them per established visual standards and boundary samples.
  • Measure surface finish on machined surfaces using profilometers, surface roughness testers, and surface finish comparator standards per engineering drawings and customer specifications (e.g., Ra, Rz), identify out-of-tolerance conditions, and report results for quality review and disposition.
  • Enter inspection data into the QMS software with 100% accuracy, verifying all entries before submission so reliable data is available for statistical analysis and quality reporting.

What's Needed?

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a Quality Control environment performing manual dimensional and visual inspection of machine components across receiving, first article, and final inspection.
  • Strong understanding and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME/ANSI standards, including interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and setup of inspections on a surface plate; hands-on CMM experience (Calypso software) is a plus.
  • Experience entering and maintaining inspection data in QMS software with 100% accuracy, along with sustained concentration to remain focused during repetitive, high-precision inspections.

What's in it for me?

  • Work in a quality-focused environment where precision, traceability, and reliable documentation matter.
  • Opportunity to contribute to root cause and corrective action efforts by communicating quality concerns to Quality, Engineering, and Production teams.
  • Hands-on role using a wide range of precision measurement tools and inspection methods.
  • Clear expectations for safety, 5S standards, and maintaining calibrated inspection equipment.
  • Structured schedule Monday through Friday with a consistent shift window.
