Our client, in Alma, MI is seeking a General Laborer to join their team. As a General Laborer, you will be part of the Production team supporting production operations. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, the ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and the drive to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Job Title: General Laborer

Location: ALMA, MI

Pay Range: $18

Shift: 6 am - 2:30 pm
overtime is scheduled until 4:30 pm and can include Saturdays

What's the Job?

  • Assembly line:
    • Assemble furniture and related products according to specifications, using hand tools, power tools, air tools, staplers, drills, saws, grinders, rivet guns, and sanders
  • Glue Booth:
    • Follow all pre-established installation and quality methods, procedures and guidelines to ensure consistency of work
    • Reads all order-specific engineered drawings to ensure each order is produced to specifications
    • Uses various hand tools and glue gun foam components to furniture core pieces
    • cross train in other departments
    • clean and maintain workflow
  • Powder Coating:
    • Prepare parts for coating
    • Operate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers and booth collection systems
    • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects
    • Determine paint flow, viscosity and coating quality by performing visual inspections or by using viscometers
    • bake parts at appropriate temperature within time limitations
    • Knowledge of thermosetting resin coatings, wash and pretreatments
    • Proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment
  • All positions:
    • Read job travelers and engineered drawings to complete production tasks accurately
    • Complete assigned work within established timeframes while maintaining quality standards
    • Cross-train across multiple assembly functions to support production needs
    • Maintain a clean and safe work area while following all safety policies and procedures

What's Needed?

  • High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify defects and quality issues
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work overtime and flexible schedules as needed (up to 50+ hours per week)
