Medical Lab Assistant

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour

Employment Type: Contingent with potential pathway for hire

Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, 7:00pm-3:30am

As a Medical Lab Assistant, you are a vital part of the laboratory team, helping to ensure specimens are properly processed, tracked, and prepared for testing. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality directly support efficient laboratory operations and accurate diagnostic results.

What You'll Do

• Sort, receive, and process incoming specimens within the laboratory
• Perform laboratory tasks such as centrifuging specimens, printing labels, recording data, and specimen storage and retrieval
• Prepare specimens for testing, including aliquoting samples, building worklists, checking specimens, and slide preparation
• Prepare reagents and media as needed within the department
• Perform routine maintenance on designated laboratory equipment
• Support QA/QC activities and resolve pending specimen lists
• Locate missing specimens and maintain departmental records and files
• Decontaminate work areas and properly dispose of biohazardous materials
• Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests and change gas cylinders as required
• Utilize laboratory computer systems and standard PC applications to support daily operations
• Follow all PPE requirements and laboratory safety regulations

What We're Looking For

• A current, up-to-date resume
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Medical assistant training helpful
• Math and science coursework preferred
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
• Ability to retain information and follow established procedures accurately
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Professional communication skills and ability to work respectfully with coworkers and customers
• Basic computer and data entry skills
• Ability to work independently in a production-focused laboratory environment
• Ability to meet compliance requirements
• Must be eligible and provide proof of eligibility to work in the US
