Our client, a local leader in manufacturing, is seeking a Material Handler to join their team. As a Material Handler, you will be part of the Receiving and Warehouse operations supporting production by keeping materials moving safely and accurately. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a solid understanding of receiving, warehouse, and material handling methods.

Job Title: Material Handler

Location: Traverse City, Michigan

Pay Range: $21.00 per hour

Shift: 2nd shift, 3:00pm-11:00pm Monday-Friday

What's the Job?

  • Read work orders via on-board computer and follow instructions to determine which materials and products need to be moved.
  • Examine materials received, verify part numbers, check for discrepancies (such as damaged or incomplete shipments), and follow ISO procedures as needed.
  • Load and unload materials onto or from trucks, trailers, pallets, racks, and other storage locations using safe pushing, pulling, lifting, and stacking methods.
  • Scan and attach identifying tags or labels to materials, bales, and other containers to support accurate tracking.
  • Operate lift trucks and other equipment safely and efficiently, including moving levers/pedals to control lifting apparatus.

What's Needed?

  • Previous sit-down forklift experience, including experience moving materials without the use of pallets or other supports required.
  • Ability to work independently while following procedures and completing required paperwork. Strong communication skills including written and verbal.
  • Strong knowledge of receiving, warehouse, and material handling operations, methods, and practices.
  • Computer skills required to read work orders and complete documentation including digital inventory systems.
  • Job requires a pre-employment drug and background screening.
