Customs Brokerage Supervisor

Location: Tempe, AZ 
Relocation Assistance Available
Pay Range: $70,000 - $90,000 plus Bonus

We are seeking a Customs Brokerage Supervisor to oversee customs clearance operations within a fast-paced international logistics environment. This role is responsible for managing customs clearance activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, leading operational performance, and developing a team of customs professionals.

The Customs Brokerage Supervisor will manage approximately 30 employees with 2 direct reports and will be responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing staff while ensuring key performance indicators are met.

What is the Job:

  • Manage and coordinate customs clearance activities in a customs house brokerage or gateway environment
  • Ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing imported and exported products
  • Verify tariffs, price conversions, weight, volume, and supporting documentation
  • Examine invoices, bills of lading, shipping statements, and customs documentation
  • Establish, monitor, and improve customs clearance procedures and service standards
  • Ensure policies and procedures are consistently administered
  • Drive operational performance and achieve key performance indicator (KPI) targets
  • Hire, coach, train, and develop employees
  • Assign work, review productivity, and manage performance
  • Work with customs officials and internal stakeholders to resolve shipment delays and clearance issues

What is Needed:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3-5+ years of experience in Customs Brokerage, International Trade, Import/Export Operations, or a related field
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of customs regulations and import/export documentation
  • Experience managing employee performance and development
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB)
  • Customs Brokerage leadership experience
  • Import/Export compliance expertise
  • Experience managing KPIs and operational metrics
