Our client, a dynamic organization in the property management industry, is seeking a dedicated Accounting Specialist (AP & AR) to join their team. As an Accounting Specialist, you will be an integral part of the Accounting department supporting the finance team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Accounting Specialist

Location: Lafayette, IN

Pay Range: $20 - $24 BOE

Shift: 8:00 am or 8:30 am (depending on length of lunch break) to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday

What's the Job?

  • Support accurate preparation, maintenance, and reporting of financial records in accordance with GAAP and company policies
  • Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and ensure financial records are complete and accurate
  • Manage accounts receivable, follow up on unpaid balances, and negotiate payment plans when necessary
  • Process accounts payable invoices, verify postings, and facilitate vendor setup and payments
  • Assist with month-end reporting, vendor administration, and payment processing activities

What's Needed?

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with accounting coursework; an associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
  • Three to five years of related accounting and/or accounts receivable experience, property management experience is a plus
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as AppFolio, QuickBooks, Yardi, or similar tools
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
