Inventory Control Specialist

Location: Mishawaka, IN
Job Type: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Plant Manager
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM - 2:30 PM (schedule may vary based on production needs)
Hours: 40 hours per week, with overtime as needed
Pay: $24.50-$28.85 per hour, based on experience (equivalent to approximately $51,000-$60,000 annually)

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Control Specialist to join our manufacturing team in Mishawaka, IN. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods to support efficient production operations.
The ideal candidate will work closely with Production, Purchasing, and Warehouse teams to ensure materials are available when needed, minimize inventory discrepancies, and support continuous improvement efforts throughout the plant.

Essential Responsibilities

• Maintain appropriate inventory levels for raw materials, components, WIP, and finished goods to support production schedules.
• Analyze production plans, forecasts, and historical usage to determine material requirements.
• Coordinate with Purchasing and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Monitor inventory transactions and maintain data accuracy within the company's ERP system.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, including cycle counts and audit variances.
• Track slow-moving, obsolete, and excess inventory and recommend corrective actions.
• Partner with Production and Operations teams to adjust inventory levels based on changing production demands.
• Support production scheduling by ensuring material availability aligns with manufacturing timelines.
• Generate and analyze inventory reports, including stock levels, shortages, inventory usage, and inventory turnover.
• Participate in cycle counts and physical inventories.
• Follow company policies, inventory control procedures, and safety standards.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of inventory control, inventory planning, production planning, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar manufacturing software.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze and interpret data.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and production workflows.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Compensation & Benefits

• $24.50-$28.85 per hour, based on experience.
• Full-time position with overtime opportunities as needed.
