Our client, a leading heavy-duty engine manufacturing company, is seeking a Controls Engineer to join their team. As a Controls Engineer, you will be part of the Manufacturing Engineering Department supporting the Machining Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Production Teams. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, effective communication skills, and a collaborative mindset which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Controls Engineer (3rd Shift)
Location: Detroit, MI
Pay Range: $52 - $60 H/r

What's the Job?

  • Troubleshoot, modify, and support PLC, CNC, HMI, robot controls, and related automation systems.
  • Provide technical controls support for heavy-duty engine machining operations and assembly processes.
  • Support servo systems, variable frequency drives, and industrial communication networks.
  • Implement and maintain machining monitoring systems and interfaces with higher-level manufacturing systems.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, quality, and operations teams to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.

What's Needed?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • 8+ years of controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, servo systems, VFDs, and industrial automation technologies.
  • Working knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards, networks, and database operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to read and interpret electrical and technical drawings.
