Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client, an energy technology and power generation organization, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be part of the Gas Turbine Engineering organization supporting Design Liaison Engineering and global supply chain teams. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, effective cross-functional collaboration and excellent problem-solving abilities which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer 
Location: Greenville, SC 29615, On-site
Pay Range: $59 per hour

What’s the Job?

• Provide design engineering support for gas turbine flow-path hardware, including blades, stators, vanes, heat shields, variable guide vanes and linkage assemblies.
• Analyze and disposition hardware deviations and develop engineering solutions to prevent recurring manufacturing issues.
• Own hardware redesign efforts and revise engineering drawings to improve manufacturability, quality and component performance.
• Serve as a technical focal point for new process qualifications, engineering changes and second-source supplier qualifications.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers and global supply chain teams to reduce costs, scrap and non-conformances.

What’s Needed?

• Mechanical design engineering experience supporting complex mechanical components and assemblies.
• Experience reviewing and revising engineering drawings with a strong understanding of manufacturing and manufacturability.
• Experience analyzing hardware deviations, non-conformances or similar manufacturing issues.
• Ability to conduct technical design reviews and assess risk at the component, assembly and system levels.
• Gas turbine, turbomachinery, flow-path hardware and/or manufacturing engineering experience strongly preferred.
