Operating Engineer

Our client, a commercial facilities organization is seeking an Operating Engineer 3 to join their team. As an Operating Engineer 3, you will be part of the Facilities team supporting building operations across multiple systems. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, technical troubleshooting ability, and a safety-first mindset which will align successfully in the organization.

Location: Knoxville, TN

Pay Range: $32 to $35 per hour

What's the Job?

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across mechanical, plumbing, structural, fire/life safety, and control systems to keep building operations running reliably
• Demonstrate technical expertise in one craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations) while staying multi-skilled across other systems
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, including cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing parts to support HVAC and related equipment performance
• Record readings, make necessary adjustments, and ensure equipment operates properly and efficiently
• Use Corrigo for work orders and maintain accurate documentation while coordinating with contractors and monitoring maintenance quality and pricing

What's Needed?

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• 2–4 years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems, with industrial/commercial experience preferred
• EPA 608 Universal Certification
• Ability to analyze commercial/industrial mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC system operation, identify causes of malfunctions, and take corrective action
• Computer literacy for record-keeping and work order systems (including Corrigo), plus working knowledge of Word and Excel
