Data Engineer

Our client, a leading organization in the real estate and investment management industry, is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join their team. As a Lead Data Engineer, you will be part of the Leasing Data Engineering group supporting data architecture, cloud platform modernization, and AI-ready data solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, ownership mentality, technical influence, excellent communication, and collaboration skills, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Lead Data Engineer

Location: Westmont, IL

Pay Range: $70 to $75 per hour

What's the Job?

• Design and deliver data models and architecture for leasing transaction, broker, CRM, and market availability data.
• Build and optimize cloud-based pipelines and platform components on Azure and/or AWS, migrating siloed data sources into a unified, governed data layer.
• Develop robust, fault-tolerant batch and incremental data pipelines using Python/PySpark and SQL, ensuring production readiness.
• Design data products, semantic structures, and API/MCP interfaces for AI systems and analytics applications.
• Implement integration services and APIs to expose leasing data to enterprise applications and downstream consumers.

What's Needed?

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering and Big Data development, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects.
• Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms on Azure or AWS, including services like Databricks, Data Factory, Synapse, Glue, or EMR.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, with expertise in PySpark/Spark for distributed data processing at scale.
• Strong skills in data modeling and architecture, including experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience designing and building API services and integrating data platforms with downstream applications, with familiarity in AI/agentic workflows and MCP integrations.
