Master Planning Project Manager / Urban Designer

Our client, Master Plan Advisory is seeking a Master Planning Project Manager / Urban Designer to join their team. As a Master Planning Project Manager / Urban Designer, you will be part of the Master Plan Advisory team supporting project delivery across multiple markets. The ideal candidate will have strong graphic-driven site planning skills, the ability to manage projects from concept through implementation planning, and the confidence to collaborate with clients and internal teams to keep work moving forward.

Job Title: Master Planning Project Manager / Urban Designer

Location:Houston, TX (Anywhere in Texas; Houston is most ideal). Client office-based when not traveling (2–3 days/week). Travel around once a month. Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm (occasional extensions due to West Coast client needs).

What's the Job?

• Deliver master plan projects by managing work from inception to completion across Mixed Use, Education, Healthcare, Institutional, Industrial, and Life Sciences.
• Lead site assessments and due diligence nationwide, translating findings into clear, actionable planning outputs.
• Create and manage 2D/3D density studies and site test fits, including scenario planning and bubble diagram work to evaluate feasibility.
• Develop implementation plans that reflect constructability realities, including zoning analysis and support for entitlement processes.
• Coordinate across internal teams and support multiple concurrent projects (approximately 3–5), while partnering with design teams, master planners, and infrastructure specialists.

What's Needed?

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field (Master Planning/Urban Design focus preferred).
• 4–6 years of experience in project management with a strong background in master planning and development work (not interiors).
• Strong proficiency with SketchUp, Rhino, and AutoCAD for 2D and 3D site layout, plus advanced PowerPoint and Creative Suite experience (graphic work is essential).
• Solid understanding of entitlements, procedures, risks, and timelines, with the ability to support feasibility and due diligence deliverables.
• Availability to travel to support projects nationwide and strong communication skills for client and stakeholder engagement.
