Pay Rate: $19.80 per hour

Employment Type: Contingent with potential pathway for hire

Schedule: 1:00 AM - 9:30 AM, Nights (40 hours per week)

Why This Role Matters

Accurate specimen processing is a critical part of the diagnostic testing process. In this role, you'll support laboratory operations through specimen handling, quality procedures, equipment maintenance, and workflow coordination to help ensure timely and reliable test results.

What You'll Do

  • Sort and receive specimens within the laboratory department
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance on designated equipment
  • Centrifuge specimens, print labels, record data, and maintain temperature logs
  • Prepare reagents and media as needed
  • Aliquot specimens, prepare worklists, and ready samples for testing
  • Check specimens for clots and fibrin and perform slide preparation activities
  • Complete assigned QA/QC responsibilities and resolve pending worklists
  • Locate missing samples and manage specimen storage and retrieval
  • Decontaminate work areas and follow all PPE and safety requirements
  • Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests and maintain departmental records
  • Operate laboratory computer systems and standard PC applications
  • Dispose of biohazardous materials in accordance with safety procedures
  • Complete required training and competency assessments

What We're Looking For

  • A current, up-to-date resume
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Medical assistant training is helpful
  • Math and science coursework preferred
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to retain learned information
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate professionally with coworkers and customers
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to meet compliance requirements
